Each time someone checks out the library will pay $.34 to $3.99.  Patrons will be limited to 7 items per month.  There were questions as to why the library is paying for this service.  Diana explained that it’s a good way for a small library to expand their collection. The library has committed to a one-year trial contract. 2.  The next book discussion is June 21 at 7pm, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstren. 3. Diana is getting bids on replacing clapboards and siding in areas of the building.

F. Racial Justice Programming:  The library’s “Let’s Talk About Racism” programming was well-received with thirty-five people attending the first “Let’s Talk About Race” program in April and 21 people attending the book discussion in May. The ZOOM format enabled people from small communities around the area and into NH and VT to join the discussion.  The Trustees discussed the format for the third program in the Fall funded by a recent grant from the New Salem Academy. The Trustees decided to take this month to think about the library’s goals for this programming, what the Fall program should look like and what is should focus on.  Trustees will branch out to community people for ideas and return to resolve this at the June meeting.

G. Library Reopening Plan:  Diana presented a plan for a Partial Reopening of the Library starting on Thursday, May 20, 2021. (See attached details.)  This will be a first stage in a gradual reopening if COVID conditions continue to improve. Before voting to support the Library’s Partial Reopening Plan, the Trustees reviewed the library’s pandemic policy that states that the library can open if pandemic numbers are down for 2 weeks.  The vote to support the reopening was unanimous. Curbside services will continue.
